JP’s Carpentry Journey

JP began his carpentry journey in 2019 when he began volunteering to build a new chapel space at a camp in Muskoka, ON. This is where he fell in love with carpentry and under the apprenticeship of an experienced carpenter of 30+ years experience, JP learnt the fundamentals of carpentry and build a strong foundation of techniques, tools and the overall trade. Since then, he has worked at 3 different contracting companies in the GTA, refining his skill set and experiencing multiple projects - from demos to custom built-ins. from framing to flooring. His experience has taught him the many intricacies of the trades, and how to plan and execute each project efficiently.

He branched out and created Cudao Carpentry & Builds in Pickering, ON in 2024. He is excited to work with his clients and deliver high quality work within their budgets. Check out his recent projects here!

  • While the names are often interchanged or used to describe each other, Carpenters are often the individuals who perform various tasks and Contractors are often the individuals who plan and oversee the project. In the case for Cudao Carpentry, we play both roles to better communicate with the client while maintaining a high level quality of work.

  • "How you do everything is how you do anything."

This is the ideology that represents this company. We put thought, diligence, and integrity in how we do our projects. Whether the task involves cleaning, framing, or finishing, there is a fulfilment that we receive that this isn't just a business transaction but a way to bring joy in the mundane that goes into a home.

  • In North America and especially in Canada, certification isn't necessary. There are many good carpenters who never got "certified" and there are many bad carpenters who are certified. At this point, it's all about trust and references. We have learned through trial and error and being the in presence of people who have been in the industry for decades.
Hesitant? Trust in the work that we produce by browsing through the social media platforms and our projects tab.

  • I learned that after going through the "normal" process of the school system, I couldn't find a job in what I studied for. Maturing and experiencing life, I learned that there are more ways to be successful. Being a tradesperson is one of those pathways. Skilled Trades; not as valued in North America compared to other parts of the world, there is a fulfilment that comes from making a dream to reality!
